Believing God for Healing
Updated: Nov 28, 2018
Over the years I've had the pleasure to work with and to style, beautiful women from different walks of life. One of the things that has always stood out to me is how much as women we go through different changes with our shapes, just because. But then you have beautiful women who are going through various health issues which one one knows about nor really understands. It can make such a women feel so lonely.
Most women I've come across with health issues are not even thinking about clothes or shoes when they simply are trying to be strong for yet another day. I've seen the effects that health issues can have on a woman's confidence and it's one of the things I'm so glad God can restore. True confidence to believe we are perfectly fine, strong and not a reject.
There are a few things in life that can make us feel powerless, even as believers. Sickness, a broken-heart or a crushed spirit can all be things that really shake our faith. It’s like the situation slaps you around the face and you have to remember who you are and what you believe, because it’s just hard. Yes, even for believers. It does not make you 'less Christian' to admit that something is hard for you or that your faith is tested.
In that moment/season it doesn’t matter how many followers you have, what anointing you have or how confident and stylish you usually are. Your life is on the line and you want it fixed asap! We pray all the prayers we can think and at times the situation doesn’t turn around. So we fast, we pray more and we go to every healing service available. But still no change from what we can see straight away. It can make us grow weary.
Like what am I doing wrong? Is God mad with me? Am I cursed? Is that even a thing? Maybe I have hidden sins I don’t know about? So many questions. So many doubts. Yet in the midst of it there is one truth that is constant. He is a healer.
Any form of sickness, be it mental, physical or emotional, causes us to question what we really believe about Jesus. Do we really believe He is for us, that he hasn’t forgotten about us and that no weapon formed against us will prosper? It really takes faith to believe that it is well with you or your loved one when you can’t physically do anything to change the situation. I know what it's like to cry yourself to sleep due to the pain and heaviness of whatever situation. But He met with me and helped me through, especially through worshipping via song.
I’ve been there on personal issues or at times when my people are going through. My faith has been shaken, but today I testify that those situations have helped me be the woman I am today. To desire relentless faith for Jesus. I don’t have a formula. We weren’t given one. But I do know that He is a healer. Full stop. Through prayer, reading the scriptures and speaking them over and over we can build our faith. Even through the tears, may this serve as a reminder to you that our God does heal!
Regardless of what the situation looks like. Regardless of what the doctors say. Regardless of who mocks and speaks about you. God is your personal healer. He heals the hidden things no one sees or knows about, and is faithful to restore you. It may take a year, five years or more but He is still true.
I just wanted to encourage and remind you so that on those harder days/moments when your faith feels faint and different thoughts try to convince you otherwise. For those days, I want to encourage you not to give up. We believe He is by faith, we believe He died and gave us salvation by faith and we also by faith keep believing that He is healer.
“Now faith is the assurance (title deed, confirmation) of things hoped for (divinely guaranteed), and the evidence of things not seen [the conviction of their reality--faith comprehends as fact what cannot be experienced by the physical senses].” - Hebrews 11:1
If you want some scriptures to pray and to help build your faith regarding healing of any form then please look at these. It's God's heart on healing:
"If you diligently heed the voice of the Lord your God and do what is right in His sight, give ear to His commandments and keep all His statutes, I will put none of the diseases on you which I have brought on the Egyptians. For I am the Lord who heals you." - Exodus 15:26
"He sent His word and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions. Oh, that men would give thanks to the Lord for His goodness, and for His wonderful works to the children of men! Let them sacrifice the sacrifices of thanksgiving, and declare His works with rejoicing." - Psalm 107:20-22
"So you shall serve the Lord your God, and He will bless your bread and your water. And I will take sickness away from the midst of you." - Exodus 23:25
"Return and tell Hezekiah the leader of My people, 'Thus says the Lord, the God of David your father: "I have heard your prayer, I have seen your tears; surely I will heal you. On the third day you shall go up to the house of the Lord." - 2 Kings 20:5
"If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land." - 2 Chronicles 7:14
"Have mercy on me, O Lord, for I am weak; O Lord, heal me, for my bones are troubled." - Psalm 6:2
