How to wear Colour Blocking Clothes

Updated: Sep 7, 2018

"Colour-blocking is thought of as the exploration of taking colours that are opposites on the colour wheel and pairing them together to make interesting and complementary combinations."

My favourite colour happens to be green, and my wardrobe definitely confirms this. I'm celebrating God's promise and rainbow with this colourful look. Colours are from the Lord, we see them in the details of creation - through flowers and animals, for example.

"You are worthy, O Lord our God, to receive glory and honor and power. For you created all things, and they exist because you created what you pleased." - Revelations 4:11

This truth encourages me so much and confirms that I'm here on this earth for His good pleasure. And so are you. It's so easy to sometimes live our lives without remembering that we are here; living and breathing because God wills for us to.

'For in Him we live and move and have our being; as even some of your own poets have said, ‘for we are indeed his offspring.' - Acts 17:28

Why I'm celebrating God's Rainbow?

A conversation with a brother of mine had me remembering the reason why the Lord gave us the rainbow, and what it truly symbolises - despite what the world says or shows us. The truth of the matter remains the same...the rainbow is a sign of God's covenant to us.

"I set My rainbow in the cloud, and it shall be for the sign of the covenant between Me and the earth. It shall be, when I bring a cloud over the earth, that the rainbow shall be seen in the cloud; and I will remember My covenant which is between Me and you and every living creature of all flesh; the waters shall never again become a flood to destroy all flesh. The rainbow shall be in the cloud, and I will look on it to remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is on the earth. And God said to Noah, “This is the sign of the covenant which I have established between Me and all flesh that is on the earth.” - Genesis 9:13-17

As the bride of Christ, it's so important to remind ourselves of what He said and meant, so that we're not deceived, desensitised or discouraged by lies. When we run to the word for comfort and clarity, it reminds us that He is sovereign.

'The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it. The world and all its people belong to Him.' - Psalms‬ 24‬:‭1‬.

I encourage you to try some colour blocking with your looks, while you remember this conversation. Next time you see a rainbow not being associated with the Lord, don't be discouraged. Be encouraged and remember that our God reigns and that His promise is still true.
